The United States wants a thorough investigation into the brutal attack on Mahinur Ahmed Khan, brother of Bangladeshi-born British-based journalist Zulkarnain Sayer Khan Samir. Mahinur was attacked by unidentified miscreants in front of his rented house in Mirpur last week. In a statement, the Acting Spokesperson of the US Embassy in Dhaka, Brian Schiller, said on Friday, “We are aware of the attack on British-based journalist Zulkarnain Sayer Khan Samir’s brother, Mahinur Ahmed Khan.” We wish Mr. Khan a speedy recovery and hope the incident is thoroughly investigated and the perpetrators brought to justice. Entrepreneur Mahinur Ahmed Khan was attacked by unknown miscreants on March 17 (Friday) at around 8 pm on his way back from a shop located opposite his rented house in Mirpur of the capital to buy daily necessities. Mahinur’s wife Rubaida Rakhi confirmed the attack to the media. He said that the assailants beat him with iron rods so much that the ligaments in his legs were torn. He was immediately taken to Kurmitola General Hospital in the capital.
After the first treatment, they filed a written complaint at the Mirpur police station. Mirpur police station sub-inspector Shahin Alam said that there was no case in the police station but they visited the spot after receiving a written complaint.
